During the last four years, I have spent countless hours curating every space I inhabit. I have grown to prefer being in an environment that is fully personalized and attuned to my taste for sweet things. This desire to constantly receive sensory stimulation manifested as a muscle focused on filling the gap between what I want and what I see.
I work with ceramic sculpture, photography, painting, and mixed media to build a wonderland of work that is slightly off-kilter, but amiable. My imagery orbits themes of girlhood, celebration, and religion. Ever since I was a little girl, I've wanted to have my cake and eat it too. The cake is a recurring symbol of jubilee across mediums used to express my passion for commemorating special moments.
I use my practice as an opportunity to freeze moments and reimagine them to fit into my ideal world. I aim to create subversive pieces that are visually charming, yet hold sinister understones. I hint at themes of loneliness, degradation, and overwhelm. My work is fine-tuned to seamlessly fit into my limited color palette and adapt to a necessary symmetry.
I am greatly motivated by the ability of my art to connect me with others and illustrate my internal theatre of emotions for others to interpret.
